SEVENTEEN DK & Seungkwan Unit Debut! Mini Album 'Serenade' Full Breakdown

The Main Vocal Unit Is Finally Here!

If you’re a Carat, you already know what’s up.
Our Seokmin (DK) and Seungkwan have officially debuted as a unit!
Their 1st mini album ‘Serenade’ dropped on January 12th, 2026 at 6 PM KST.

This is the first official unit centered around the vocal line since SEVENTEEN was formed, so yeah — the fandom is losing it right now.
Their last proper duet was ‘Say Yes’ from the 1st full album back in 2016.
That’s 10 years, which is kind of wild when you stop and think about it.
You can really hear how much their voices have changed over the years.
This album just hits different.

What Does 'Serenade' Mean?

The Korean title is ‘소야곡’ which translates to a serenade — a love song sung at night.
The concept is about looking back on love during those quiet nighttime hours when your heart is most honest.
They’re telling a story about all the phases of love: the comfort zone, the disconnect, and new beginnings.
Everything between meeting and parting, through their own emotional lens.

Also this is DK’s last album before his military enlistment.
I’m not ready to talk about that part yet.

Full Tracklist - All 6 Songs

Let me break down all the tracks.

  1. Rockstar (DK Solo) - Retro pop vibes.
A song about being thankful for the people who make ordinary days feel special.
DK wrote and composed this one himself.

  2. Blue (Title Track) - This song hurts in a very quiet way.
It’s about love moving at different paces.
You know that feeling when you sense the relationship fading but you just can’t let go?
    Yeah.
    That.

  3. Guilty Pleasure - R&B track with a seductive mood.
The vocals on this one are insane.

  4. Silence - About the emptiness after a breakup.
I had to pause after this one.

  5. Dream Serenade (Seungkwan Solo) - Ethereal ballad about putting a mature ending to love.
Seungkwan wrote and composed it himself.
His voice in this… I don’t have words.

  6. Prelude of Love - About exciting new beginings.
Both DK and Seungkwan are credited as co-writers.

Seungkwan said “since we’re the main vocals, we filled it with songs that show exactly why we’re called main vocals.”
He was not lying.
No skips.
I tried to pick a favorite and gave up.

The 7-Minute Cinematic MV Is Insane

The MV for Blue is over 7 minutes long.
I didn’t expect it to go that hard but here we are.
Actors Lee Yoo-mi and Noh Sang-hyun star in it, directed by Annie Chung.

Okay so the story —
It’s about a man (Noh Sang-hyun) carrying deep emotional scars he can’t overcome, and a woman (Lee Yoo-mi) who loves him but is slowly getting exhausted.

The male lead lost someone in a car accident.
He freezes whenever he hears an ambulance siren.
He tries to forget through his relationship with her but keeps falling apart.
Meanwhile she’s getting emotionaly drawn to another man.
In the end, he lets her go for her own sake.

The final scene has no dialogue, no music.
Just two people at the crossroads of their relationship.
The lingering feeling it leaves… I sat there for a while after.
Felt like watching a short film.

Epilogue version drops January 19th btw.

Upcoming Schedule

DK and Seungkwan start music show promotions on Mnet’s ‘M Countdown’ January 15th.

DK is also appearing on ‘Limo Service’ (KBS Kpop YouTube) on January 13th.
And episode 2 of ‘Going DK x Seungkwan Special: Villain Ppudo’ comes out January 14th.

Final Thoughts

Perfect winter ballad album.
So good for your commute home or a solo evening walk.

In their interview they said “we hope our songs can bring a little comfort to those who had a tiring or difficult day.”
And when you listen, you really do feel that warmth.

Their agency talked about DK’s powerful vocals and Seungkwan’s delicate, husky tone coming together —
and honestly?
Not an exaggeration.
This feels like a revival of classic K-pop vocal duos.

If you haven’t listened yet — please.
You won’t regret it.
